NAKAMICHI 1000 ZXL
For sale my beloved Nakamichi deck. I sale as “for repair or for parts” so unit is sold “as is” without any guarantee for it.
Undoubtly it needs a full replacement of orange capacitors and some other works of adjustement and fixing. I’m getting older and I don’t have time to spend around it and the only technician who known these models closed the laboratory a few years ago.
History: originally bought used in U.S. in early XXI Cent. and later converted with a 220 volt transformer with a IEC socket in rear chassis. Original 110 volt transformer is provided in the box.
It was well cared for and lightly used (I had many deck at the time). Regularly maintened; last check with belt replacement was made in early 2018. The laboratory who checked it last time assured me about very very good condition of all heads. Since then I used it three or four times a year.
Aesthetic: 7/10 chassis and 6/10 wooden case (there are a few scratches here and there, please see attached images).
Operation: It plugs “On” regularly and sounds nice in PLAY mode. Indipendent channel regulation “Volume output” works correctly.
FF & REW works perfectly. PAUSE also ok.
Counter display works perfectly.
--- Test tone ok.
Neverthless there are some functions that are not working or partially defective:
--it does not complete the auto-calibration mode (dedicated motor works, but the head alignement does not complete the full procedure), so unit does not record or record with a distorted sound.
-- RAMM system does not work.
-- A few bulb lights need to be replaced (120 µs) and STOP mode.
---VU meter does not work properly in both mode (VU/PEAK or PEAK/HOLD).
--- Tape memory lights does not work properly, “Manual set” led is flashing countinously but maybe due to the lack of batteries on rear… I dont’ know.
I do have user and service manual (both photocopy) in any case they are easily available on the web market.
I don’t have original box but I provide a sturdy double-box for a safe shipping.
Serial number is: 04022 (A117 internal designation of Nakamichi fabrics); made in late 1982.
Unit is located in Torino (Northwest Italy). Collecting with cash payment is welcome; otherwise I can ship with Air courier. I can’t provide EXACT costs (all vectors have raised considerably International shipping rates) but due to the large size and massive weight probably costs approximately are no less than:
Western Europe: 60 EURO. // U.S. & Canada: 120 Euro // Asia 150 Euro.
