Hello, I am selling this planar magnetic headset Voted best open headset of the year 2023 by ConvinceMeAudio and "Blue Moon Award 2024" awarded by 6 moons "Reference" awarded by Haute-Fidélité magazine (October 2024).
It is therefore one of the best current headsets! Its sound characteristics:
- the sound is warm and matte: no highlighting here!
- The timbres are dense: the strings are materialized, the voices pleasant and embodied (the Focal Utopia 2022 is less dense for example, with less feeling of physical presence)
- The bass is hyper embodied, powerful: a perfect headset for those who want powerful deep bass while remaining more neutral and open than a closed headset
- the sound is very punchy, dynamic, more physical than the Utopia and the Susvara
- The soundstage is extremely coherent, very 3D, very well proportioned. For example, the Susvara will sound bigger, but less structured and deep. The Utopia will require very expensive cables to get close to it. - This headset is between a Utopia 2022 for the Punch and a Susvara for the naturalness of the tones (the Focal is sometimes a little aggressive)
Its advantages are:
- Its ease of being powered, it sounds good without needing a very powerful amplifier.
- Its wiring uses USB c! So there is no direction of connection, the balanced XLR cable connects on both sides and the mini Jack 3.5 cable connects on one side only. This makes it possible to have a headset that is easy to transport and use.
Why am I selling it?
- I'm keeping my Utopia because I have an overpriced cable (Danacable Nirvana) and a great sedentary amp (Viva Egoista) that makes it a little more transparent and open than the Camerton (but we get to twice the price with the cable...). With the basic cables, I would give the Camerton above the Focal Utopia 2022.
It comes with its carrying bag and a 3 meter XLR cable and 1.5 meter 3.5 mini Jack. I can offer a 4.4 jack to XLR adapter to connect it balanced to a DAP.
One of the pads has a sign of wear, it can be changed very easily if necessary.
