Ascendo Coax D6 Active, High Gloss Black, Active 2-Way Coaxial Speaker Set

General : The Ascendo Coax D6 Active is a compact but powerful active speaker. It is a Coaxial system, meaning that the tweeter sits in the middle of the midrange/woofer. This ensures better timing as both the high, mid and low come from 1 radiating point. Despite the fact that the Ascendo Coax D6 Active is just a 2-way coaxial system with no additional bass woofer, the low coming out is impressively powerful and tight without being overpowering. This is because the amplification in the Ascendo Coax D6 Active boasts a total of 650 watts per speaker, 150 watts for the tweeter and 500 watts for the midrange/woofer. The 18cm Coaxial driver comes away from Scandinavian manufacturer Seas. The diaphragm for the midrange/woofer is made of a transparent XP material which has natural sound characteristics, especially at the upper frequency range of this woofer this material performs very well. The tweeter is a 25mm Soft Dome tweeter with a powerful Neodymium magnet drive. The cabinet features a bass reflex port on the front and is therefore also suitable for placement closer to the rear wall.
Control : There is a complete room correction equaliser software with different filters built into the Ascendo Coax D6 Active so you can make it play perfectly in any room. However, this requires some work before this is perfectly tuned of course. According to Ascendo, operating the Coax D6 Active is very self-explanatory. In our opinion, this will probably be the case once you get it right, but to use the equaliser in the speakers for the first time is a matter of carefully reading the manual. The network works via AVB (Audio Video Stream), and we personally have never worked with this before. So this is for the handy people among us, the full manual is there where all the settings for operating the Ascendo Coax D6 Active are listed, also, Ascendo in Germany can just be contacted with questions, they will be happy to help you. We will demonstrate these speakers simply as active speakers with a preamp in front of them. So all internet-related questions about the Coax D6 Active will have to be sent to Ascendo.
Listening : Connected to the McIntosh C8 tube preamp, the Ascendo Coax D6 Active sound good right away. We have had Ascendo speakers in our homes before and they always have a detailed and very natural, pleasant sound. The Coax D6 Active is certainly no exception. There is a pleasantly warm tinge over the sound, but it is lively, transparent and very detailed. The low that comes out of these relatively compact 2-way coaxial speakers is also special. Not only is it powerful, it is also a very musical and enjoyable low. Never too much and never too little. The Ascendo Coax D6 Active are formidable speakers in their price range and are ideal for the average living room.
