Description
These amps are rare as hen's teeth this side of the atlantic : the great Wright Sound Audio WPA 3.5- 2A3 monoblocks. Here's the occasion for you to spare the cost of Int'l shipping, VAT and other taxes to acquire these sought-after monoblocks.
You'll find plenty infos online for these state of the art/very simple circuit, developed and mastered by the late George Wright. Prices fetch now pretty high abroad amng collectors, as all amps were workshop custom orders only.
They develop a mere 3 watts/channel, thru 4,8,16 ohms selectors. They run on 110V.
They truly sing, especially with these included, select, low hour, NOS tubes :
JAN RCA CRC 6SN7 GT/VT 231 Black coated glass, copper grid posts, circa 40's
JAN-CEA Bendix 6106 (5Y3) triple mica
Sold with a NOS/NIB spare matched pair of JJ 2A3-40)
These are said to have "the punch of a 211"; 40 watts of plate dissipation, which equals more headroom. If heir low wattage seem to make them match high efficiency speakers, the most remarkable listening occured when i plugged them to 15 ohms Rogers LS3/5a monitors. Bass was so tight and percussive, i had to ask the owner if he had plugged his subwoofer... Space and silence between the notes and instruments were just addictive, the mids and highs totally thrilling. A match in heaven, knowing how these monitors could be hard to drive. Though i should buy such speakers and never look back, i decided to part with them eventually. Feel free to ask for more pics or else.
Weight is around 20 kgs
