Description
For sale an extremely rare WADIA Digimaster X-64.4 DAC complete with WADIA WT3200 CD transport
They are in excellent aesthetic conditions, and technically flawless
The advantage of this combination is the renowned Wadia AT&T (ST Glass) connection between transport and DAC, which optimizes the data transfer and is still considered a reference nowadays.
ST Optical is the best format for carrying digital data. It was developed back in the 1980's by AT&T (American Telephone & Telecommunications Co.). It was designed to carry massive amounts of digital data over long distances without loss of signal. It is still used today - hundreds/thousands of miles of glass fibre optical cables run along the floor of the Atlantic Ocean (for example) to connect European and North American communications systems. Wadia Digital Corp. was the first manufacturer I believe to use this format in a consumer audio product (Wadia 2000 Decoding Computer circa 1988). It was a revelation in its day and soon other high-end audio manufacturers followed suit - Mark Levinson, Theta Digital, EAD, EMM Labs and others. The companies that used this format were usually regarded as having some of the best sound attainable in their day. As has been pointed out, it wasn't cheap or simple to incorporate this method of transmitting digital data back then, so very few companies had the expertise or financial ability to go this route.
Original Wadia Optical Interconnect with AT&T connections included
Original remote control for the WT3200 included
I sell them combined, or I can sell the transport separately, but not the DAC only
I can send many detailed photos on request
I guarantee seriousness and precision. I don't have the original packaging but professional service for packaging and shipping will be provided
Feel free to contact me for further questions
I can provide many more positive feedbacks on other sales portals
