Offered for sale Rockport Technologies Ankaa speakers in the color high gloss piano lacquer black. RP speakers are the ice of the crop. You must have seen, heard and touched these speakers. Soundstage is deep, high and wide. Very organic and realistic. The drivers play with a scale that belies their size and offer exceptional resolution, texture, detail, realism, and impact. These speakers create an expansive wall-to-wall stage with depth, height, and energy, and its capacity to convey information beyond the first layer of musical presentation—to recreate the air and presence of the venue itself—is, at times, almost unnerving. Their performance, in my room, engaged and enraptured in a way that very few other (much more expensive) speakers could. Photos do not do justice to Andy Payor's very impressive design. They are in immaculate condition. Always standing in a smoke-free, dust-free and animal-free living room. I am the first owner and these Ankaas are 1 of the last pairs built. Are 100% hand-built in the United States. The Ankaas have played about 590 hours of music. This can be proven. Are actually barely played in.

Rockport speakers are built in low quantities. Not often offered because owners are very loyal to RP. Usually sold within a network.

They are on special footers for Rockport speakers. The Vibbeaters of Entreq on top of the speakers are not included. Can be discussed.

It was great to again encounter Andy Payor of Rockport Technologies and hear the stunning 200 lb Ankaa loudspeaker. Of all the speakers I heard on the first two days of T.H.E. Show, the Ankaa produced images so large and lifelike that it made other speakers (including several wonderful-sounding models I’ve already discussed) seem like pipsqueaks. I have no doubt that the expensive, neutral-sounding Gryphon Antileon Signature stereo amplifier ($31,000 for 150Wpc) and Mirage preamplifier ($25,000), as well as the debuting Purist Audio Design Proteus Provectus cabling had a lot to do with Andy's triumph. As he rather selflessly noted, "The real reason for a good image lies in the collaboration."
In addition to choosing his partners wisely—more on the Blue Smoke Entertainment Systems Black Box source component in another blog entry—Andy has played extremely close attention to the strikingly good-looking Ankaa's radiation pattern, its crossover—the midrange extends down to 150Hz—and its intentionally rounded cabinet design. What this speaker did with Lorraine Hunt Lieberson’s voice might have reduced my fellow Lorraine lover, Wes Phillips, to tears. On a much larger scale, every note of "Mars" from Holst’s The Planets was handled with equal aplomb. The speaker delivered midrange fullness for days, and true symphonic proportions.
