Esoteric N-05XD is a concept device consisting of a network DAC and preamplifier that redefines the basic unit of an audio system in the era of digital networks. The product features new digital-to-analog converters based on the Master Sound Discrete DAC philosophy used in our technological pinnacle Grandioso D1X. Network functions inherited from our flagship N-01XD network design, which offer a wide selection of digital and analog source functions. In addition, the N-05XD is equipped with high-quality attenuation circuits and a balanced headphone output, which appears for the first time in our products in this category. The N-05XD is a new era in audio, integrating a network player, a Master Sound Discrete digital-to-analog converter, attenuator system that maximizes speaker potential, a power amplifier, digital and analog inputs, and a preamplifier under one roof.

Network player. Designed by an audio equipment manufacturer and intended exclusively for music reproduction, the linear powered mains circuit comes from our top model N-01XD and guarantees the expression of all musical details when using network sources. In addition, the signal quality is ensured by a natural power supply regulated by dedicated power transformers. The system offers access to the most popular online streaming services.

Master Sound Discrete DAC. The N-05XD uses the newly developed Master Sound Discrete digital-to-analog converter, which is derived from the Master Sound Discrete DAC used in our crowning achievement, undoubtedly the Grandioso D1X. Master Sound Discrete DAC is a fully self-designed discrete digital-to-analog converter, created by ESOTERIC in the pursuit of achieving the highest sound quality as close to the original sound as possible.

Preamplifier Features:

ESOTERIC-QVCS Damper System – The Quad Volume Control System (QVCS) includes a total of four precision switched resistor ladder networks that, working together, electronically and independently control the left and right channels and their phase setting (+/-). This system helps maintain excellent sound clarity, excellent channel separation and extremely precise characteristics, minimizing loss of sound quality while ensuring extremely low levels of distortion.
ESOTERIC-HCLD buffer circuit – A system that guarantees every note of music. The use of the ESOTERIC-HCLD circuit as an output buffer circuit that keeps track of the current bandwidth and transmission rate is crucial for analog output circuits. These elements with a response speed of 2000 V / μs ensure extraordinary music dynamics and breathtaking realism.
ES-LINK – Analog input/output guaranteeing a unique way of transmitting load. Balanced Headphone Outputs 4-pin XLR connector for balanced headphones. The N-05CD is equipped with an independent, fully balanced L/R headphone amplifier with the exclusive ESOTERIC-HCLD buffer circuit, dedicated to high-end 600 Ω headphones. External clock synchronization function – N-05XD can be synchronized with a very precise 10 Mhz master clock.
High-power power supplies – For the network and DAC/Audio sections, the N-05XD is equipped with dedicated power transformers with a 4-inch toroidal core, which are also used in our top-of-the-line N-01XD model. An additional power supply for the Control/Display section consolidates independence from the audio processing section.
