Description
For sale is one of the rarest 16-inch idler drive turntable Commonwealth 16A, it's a professional broadcast turntable from the 1960's, it was made to work 24 hours a day, 7 days per week in radio stations, built like a tank. It was fully restored, and installed in a solid Merbau wooden plinth, also to this plinth was installed a fully restored 16-inch tonearm General Electric FA-21A, another hole in this plinth was made for Ortofon RF-297 tonearm (this not included with this lot)
If you take a search in Google you'll find almost all 12-inch Common's but only a few in the world Commonwealth 16-inch left ! , I have this baby for about 15 years, and in this time I have seen only a few owners of this TT, a couple from Asia, a couple from Australia, one in US, and one in Russia, that's it. I have never seen an owner of this TT in Europe. Maybe somewhere also more few hidden owners in the world, but this tt is one of the rarest tt and real icon of vinyl history.
Imported by me ~15 years ago from Australia.
Due to its weight and rare, local pickup is only from Lithuania. It's a simple way if you take a ferry from Kiel (DE) to Klaipeda (LT), and it costs maybe a few hundred euros.
