The B&W 803 D4 is the smallest model in the new 800 D4 series, which is equipped with a tweeter and midrange speaker in a separate housing. So if you like something a little more compact but still don't want to miss out on the high-end technologies of the British premium manufacturer, you've found the ideal partner here. Built on an extremely stable aluminum base, the three-way floor-standing loudspeaker impresses with an extremely rigid, extremely low-resonance housing with complex internal bracing. This masterpiece plays clearly, cultivated, powerfully and richly in detail under practically all conceivable conditions.
In the speakers of the 800 D4 series, it is used for the midrange and low-midrange range. Acoustically, the Continuum membrane impresses with its extremely sophisticated, delicate and transparent overall presentation. When used as a midrange speaker in three floorstanding speakers of the Bowers & Wilkins 800 D4 series, it is always combined with B&W's FST (Fixed Suspension Transducer) midrange technology.
With the new biomimetic suspension, B&W replaces the conventional fabric centering spider with a slim suspension system. This clearly optimizes the performance of the midrange membrane by massively reducing the unwanted air pressure that a conventionally constructed fabric spider can generate. This means that unpredictable effects are a thing of the past thanks to B&W's new development. An absolutely pure, fresh and finely structured midrange is the audible result of the constructive measures.
