A unique opportunity to purchase the AUDIOMAT SOLFÈGE RÉFÉRENCE 20 amplifier.

The amp is in immaculate condition – it is unrecognizable from a new unit – and comes in original packaging, with original invoice and warranty certificate. I bought the amp in Norway at Audio Art (www.audioart.no) in 2020, but used it sporadically – it clocked cca 400 hours so far. In one word, its performance in my system was superb and if I was not moving, it would remain a mainstay of my system.

Solfège is an evergreen in the portfolio of the french boutique brand: the first incarnation saw the light of day in 1992, and since 1994 it has been dressed in the unmistakable appearance of current Audiomat devices. SOLFÈGE RÉFÉRENCE 20 builds on the gained experience and represents the synergy of a minimalist circuit and very good components. The result is an amplifier that can cater to a very wide range of speakers.

Although similar to other models from Audiomat – high-quality components, wide Class A range, film capacitors from SCR, oversized transformers specially manufactured by a supplier to the aviation industry, an aluminum chassis and resonance-optimized placement on 3 cones – SOLFÈGE RÉFÉRENCE 20 is different in one crucial point: owner can choose between a moderate global negative feedback of 6dB (common to all Audiomat amplifiers) and additional local current negative feedback. This reduces the output power provided by four KT88 tubes (two per channel in the push-pull configuration) from nominal 40W to 25W. Plenty of power is therefore available for speakers with a balanced impedance curve, while impedance-critical speakers benefit from an increased control and precision.

This unit was carefully built by hand like all Audiomat devices. During development, intensive attention was paid to possible sound-damaging microphonic effects, which is why mechanical vibrations of the housing are dissipated via 3 solid brass cones.

For convenience, the amplifier has a remote-controlled volume, implemented via a high-quality ALPS potentiometer. The remote allows fine control of the volume in addition to normal - more coarse - adjustment steps. This is particularly useful for loudspeakers with high efficiency. The input selection is classically done via a time-proven mechanical switch from Lucas. The SOLFÈGE RÉFÉRENCE 20 doesn't have any power-hungry standby circuits; after listening, it is completely disconnected from the mains with a toggle switch on the front panel.
